Silence and un-silence alerts

Applies to: Grafana Cloud and Grafana OSS unless noted.

Overview

This article explains how to perform the task silence and un-silence alerts in the context of Alerting Rules.

Prerequisites

• Grafana 9.5 or later recommended
• Org admin or editor role where applicable

Steps

1. Open Configuration → relevant page in Grafana.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete silence and un-silence alerts.
3. Click Save & test (if configuring), or Create to finalize.

Verify

• Confirm expected results in dashboards, Explore, or Alerting.
• Check the Server admin or Alerting pages for status.

Troubleshooting

• Review /var/log/grafana/grafana.log (OSS) or use Support bundle for Cloud.
• Use Query inspector to inspect requests and responses.
